ABOUT

Lindsay Thurman is an author and advocate in Louisville, KY.  She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a rare and chronic lung disease, when she was just 23 years old.  She was originally given less than a decade to live, inspiring her to leave an abusive marriage and start a career as a high school math teacher.  She spent most of her adult life struggling to breathe.  In February of 2020, she was hospitalized after going into arrhythmia in her doctor's office.  She nearly lost her battle with lung disease.

She is now thriving after beginning a treatment plan that includes three medications that did not exist when she was diagnosed in 2008.  This plan allowed her to start running and she became the first person with PAH to run a full marathon.  She works with the American Lung Association and Pulmonary Hypertension Association to spread awareness and raise funds for medical research.
